Questionnaire Validity and Reliability

The most important part of a survey research is to first define a set of items that is able to measure a variable. Researchers may adapt, adopt or develop a questionnaire, however, it is important to establish the measurement properties of a questionnaire to affirm its reliability and validity. Study findings and conclusion can be questioned if the questionnaire is not validated accurately.

Questionnaire validation is a process to determine whether the instrument measures what it was designed to measure. The validation comes in different forms, procedures and methods such as content validity, criterion validity, and/or construct validity.

This workshop is aimed for scholars with little or no understanding about questionnaire validation as well as those wishing to review and broaden existing skills. With the help of the trainer, scholars will learn the skills to adapt or adopt a questionnaire. Furthermore, scholars will be taught on different types of constructs and the best validation process for their research. Scholars will also be exposed on suitable statistical methods for questionnaire validation and how to apply these validation methods in their research.
